GM Flare and GM Hamiltop were able to come to an agreement on Monday that should benefit both teams in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.
For Minnesota, they will send their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round draft picks in the upcoming draft for Pittsburgh’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 2020 draft.
Minnesota frees up cap space needed to retain some important pieces and gives them cap flexibility in free agency. It also means that QB Kirk Cousins will be entering the final year of his deal when the 2020 draft rolls around and his replacement may likely be found meaning Cousins will hit the free agent market.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has a whopping 6 picks in the first 3 rounds of Saturday’s draft giving them a plethora of options. They could fill key needs, package picks to move up, or add a lot of talent to stack the team.
Both teams will look for big improvements next season based on these current moves and how they finished the last season.
